‘Single use plastics should be banned in schools’ was the motion debated at the Horsham Schools Council meeting held at Forest School. Led by a teacher ambassador from the Houses of Parliament, our Year 6 school councillors joined other pupils from local schools to hear about how parliament operates before participating in the debate. It was a subject that spark passion and enthusiasm and all our pupils were keen to participate and put their views across. The final vote supported the motion with a 31 to 14 vote win. The group have come back inspired and are keen to get to work in school to put some of their ideas into practice.
